Press Release Body: Englewood Cliffs, NJ- (January 14, 2008) -Chelsea Palermo releases her debut CD All About Love and begins to make waves in the world of jazz. After opening for jazz greats, Gato Barbieri and most recently Chris Botti, Chelsea is now focused on marketing and promoting her debut release All About Love. She will perform songs from her debut CD All About Love and will meet and greet fans after performance. Most recently, the legendary George Benson spoke of Chelsea Palermo stating, "She has a phenomenal ear and can sing note for note like a true Bebopper! She's got what it takes." Come enjoy Chelsea's fresh, energetic classy performance at the Barnes and Nobles Booksellers in Holmdel.
Chelsea, 22 grew up like most teens singing her favorite pop songs on the radio. However, it was her admission to NJ Performing Arts Center program Jazz for Teens where Chelsea made the critical switch to jazz, seeking to emulate her idols, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Billie Holiday, and Sarah Vaughn. "When I was a kid, I was drawn to the energy of pop music and R&B-and I always will be." Chelsea said recently, "However, I also appreciated the sophistication and nuance of jazz-and I always wished I could share that with my friends." Today, Chelsea is hoping to do just that: to use her fresh, energetic take on the standards to help bring jazz to a whole new generation beginning with Borders Book Stores and now introducing it to Barnes and Noble Book Stores.
In 2000 Palermo moved south from Bergen County to attend The Red Bank Regional High School Visual and Performing Arts Academy. While there, she was one of eight vocalists in the state to be chosen for the Jazz for Teens program at the NJ Performing Arts Center. Additionally, she was a member of the New Jersey Honors Jazz Choir and the All-State Opera Company. She is in good company, her vocal coach has also trained Diane Reeves and Janet Jackson.
Chelsea recently performed for a national radio audience on the Joey Reynolds Show, broadcast on WOR in New York. Additionally, she has taken the stage at the PNC Bank Arts Center, bergenPAC in Englewood, The Paramount Theater in Asbury Park, and Bruce Springsteen's music venue, The Stone Pony. For the past two years, Chelsea has sung at Drumthwacket, the New Jersey Governor's Mansion at the annual, statewide D.A.R.E. fundraiser. She also lent her voice to last year's Power of Pink cancer fundraiser, which featured Lynn Redgrave as the evening's emcee.
Palermo has recently completed her first commercial release entitled, ALL ABOUT LOVE, available now at Jack's Music Shoppe in Red Bank, Chelsea in The Grove in Shrewsbury and www.chelseapalermo.com. Her first album was released by A Major record company, and features tracks such as "Is You Is", "If I Give You My Love," "La Vie En Rose," and "Fine and Mellow." The album also features special guests Warren Vaché on trumpet and Latin percussionist Luisito Quintero.
